Cynthia Johnson has worked for over 25 years in the health care field and has moved
up the career ladder from Staff Nurse, Nurse Manager, and Director of Nursing to her
current position as Chief Nursing Officer for Research Medical Center in Kansas City,
Missouri.
Cynthia began her professional career in 1976 with Wesley Medical Center in Wichita
and has worked for Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. Additionally she has
completed her vocational certification to become a Legal Nurse Consultant and has
worked with attorneys on issues related to staffing and standard documentation.
Cynthia has extensive knowledge in developing work redesign teams that assist nurses
in streamlining processes that affect patient care. She has developed a training session
to assist nursing staff and physicians to collaborate more effectively regarding the care
of the cardiac patient. She has developed a management reference book for new
managers to use with day-to-day operations. She has developed and presented a
management training class for Charge Nurses and a class on productivity for Nurse
Managers and Directors. Additionally, she has developed evaluation tools to assist
managers in monitoring staff more effectively. She is energetic and motivated and
enjoys doing presentations that will assist hospitals in preparing leaders for today’s
workforce.
