Rainey J. Crawford is a native of Venice, Illinois. He received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University. He also received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from Michigan State University. During his Southern Illinois tenure, he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He is married to Thelma J. Fields Crawford and has a daughter Sharon Marie and son-in-law Calvin Butler, two grandchildren Blake Calvin and Rainey Aleix.
Mr Crawford recently completed nine years as Army Reserve Ambassador, appointed by the Office of the Chief Army, Army Reserve. He is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Crawford Group Unlimited LLC, a governmental affairs, Human Relations, training, management development, and community relations consulting firm; * President of First Watch Unlimited; a real estate consulting firm,
Mr. Crawford has had a long and distinguished career with Ford Motor Company where he held several key positions; Regional Governmental Affairs Director, director several Human Resources organizations (staffs, divisions, and plants), Labor Relation Manager and Chief Labor Contract Negotiator, Responsible for the Coordination of the diversity process/ affirmative action activities for salaried employees worldwide, and Coordinated the Ford Fund request and community Relations activates for fifteen states.
He serves or served on thirty (30) or more Boards and is actively involved in community activities. The Boards include: Missouri Investment Trust Board ( appointed by the Governor of Missouri), Missouri Mediation /Arbitration Board – Management member, Associated Industries (Arkansas and Missouri), Allegiant Bank, Missouri Legislative Black Caucus Foundation, Missouri High Technology, St. Louis Community College High Tech training for Industry and Labor –Chairman, Kansas City Community College ( training ands school to work process), National Black Caucus of State Legislators Business Roundtable ( Executive Committee and Chairman Legislative issues committees), St. Louis County Election Commission, NCAA, National Collegiate Ammeter Association citizenship through Sports Alliance, Kansas City Salvation Army, St. Luke’s Hospital boards- (System Board and St. Lukes Hospital Board), Urban League Kansas City and St. Louis, Boys and Girls Club-Kansas City and St. Louis, Avilla College Board, Starlight Theatre-Kansas City, Lyric Opera-Kansas City, numerous State Chamber of Commerce Boards, Adjunct Professor for the Masters Program at Webster University, and St. James Methodist Church -Pastoral Board and Adult Sunday School Teacher.
He has received much recognition for his dedication and commitment to serve others. Recognitions received include: “The Image Award” from the National Black Caucus of State Legislators-Corporate Roundtable, “ The Pinnacle Award for outstanding service” from the Missouri Black Caucus Foundation”, The Youth and Community Service Award” form the Kansas City Boys and Girls Club, “The Outstanding Youth Award for Dedication and Commitment” from the St. Louis Boys and Girls Club, “ The Outstanding Service Award for dedication to eradicate racism: from the St. Louis Urban League” – Dedication for Service to the Urban League and the community.
Prior to joining Ford Motor Company, his experience included playing professional baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals baseball association and the Kansas City Athletics baseball association, a Community Developer with Human Development Corporation- St. Louis, Missouri. He also served eleven years as an officer in the United State Army Reserve.
